Our data is always very important to us, so any time we decide to store some of your files online, we want to be confident in the cloud service provider. Hopefully, this post will give you some tips on the factors that are worth considering.

Strong confidentiality policy

Reliable servers

A lot of popular services, including Backup Genie, ZipCloud and MyPC Backup have already proven thousands of user the reliability of their servers. With high level of protection and professional support 24/7, you can stay confident in the security of your digital data!

High-level encryption

A truly reliable could service will encrypt your files not only on their servers, but also on its way to them. Thus, you can stay assured that data will be protected from unauthorized access both on the server and while transferring.

Basically, these are the major factors guaranteeing the security of your digital data in the cloud. However, before you decide which app to install, you may want to read some reviews, communicate with people using one or another service, etc. Which is why we hope that both our reviews and users’ comments will help you in making that final decision!

Ever since Apple announced their iCloud, the fascination of similar cloud services has become quite common. However, in spite of seeming appeal of managing all of your files from different locations, some users still feel uncertain about the safety of their stored documents. The following post tries to analyze potential dangers of storing your files in the cloud, step by step refuting some of the widespread myths.

Myth 1: Confidentiality violations – cloud service providers have access to your files and can use them without your consent, or disclose information about your and your files to a third party or parties
Refutation: Frankly speaking, a rather paranoid statement, since basically any cloud provider has strict privacy and confidentiality policy with a set of rigid rules not to be broken. Even more importantly, some cloud services are so concerned about their confidentiality policy that they actually have no access to your files at all. How is it possible? The answer is simple – as you upload your files, they are being ‘sliced’ into separate pieces and each piece is being immediately encrypted. Thus, the owner of the files is the only person who has access to the uploaded data.

Myth 2: Your data can be easily lost, and the company will not be held liable.
Refutation: The files you choose to back up are stored on secure servers with 24/7 support, like ZipCloud. In addition, your digital files are not tangible objects that can be easily lost somewhere below the living room couch. It is highly unlikely that the data, securely stored on the company’s servers, will ever be lost. Though, you surely cannot take off the counts human errors – for instance, you can accidentally delete the file yourself. Which is why it is always advisable to keep the most important files in several places.

Myth 3: Data can only be encrypted as it reaches its destination point, which leaves your data vulnerable while transferring
Refutation: It’s not true, since most cloud storage providers, like JustCloud, also use encryptions while transferring data, completely securing the process of information exchange

So, as you can see, there is nothing wrong to keep some of your files in be cloud. Apart from gaining quick access to all of your documents and acquiring a possibility to manage them any time anywhere, you can enjoy security and high level of confidentiality provided you chose a reliable cloud storing service.

If you uncertain which cloud service to choose, we hope that our reviews I most popular cloud services will help you.

With our hectic modern lifestyles, it is not always easy to keep track of your files, bookmarks, etc. How often have you started working on a certain document on your computer at work just to finish it later, at home? Not to mention the ideas you get while driving, waiting for a cab or simply having coffee with your friends? Of course, our smartphones make life so much easier, allowing us to stay online all the time, make notes when we have our epiphanies, and so on. However, as the number of files keeps growing, it becomes more and more difficult to keep track of your home, work documents and even mobile notes and files.

Luckily, it is not difficult to synchronize your computer and mobile files with the help of cloud services. The idea is simple – all of your documents, pictures, and even videos are stored online and you can get access to any of them from any device of yours, be it your desktop, laptop or a smartphone. You can easily start working on a document at work, add something to it on your way home, and, finally, finish it at home! Three independent devices, one file – seems like an excellent way of time management, doesn’t it?

Cloud services, like Just Cloud, Zip Cloud, Backup Genie, etc. allow you easy access to all of your files from any place of your liking, which will prove highly useful for people who travel a lot, cannot imagine their daily routine without their iPhones, Blackberries and other mobile devices. The use of cloud services will help you get your bookmarks, docs and pictures in order, so you will no longer have to painfully recall which of your file versions is the newest one, and on which device you bookmarked the article you enjoyed so much.

The setup is basically very easy – you just have to register on the cloud service website (your email will be your login), choose the password and select the storing plan to your liking. As a rule, there is always a free trial period, after which you can choose a prepaid storing plan. The longer you subscribe for, the bigger the discounts usually are. Monthly fee will mostly depend on the amount of storage. Some services, like just cloud, offer you unlimited storage plans, which can also prove very useful.

To sum it up, you can always store all of your photos, documents and other files in a single place and access them from anywhere. Cloud services will help you sync your smartphones with your desktop and laptop computers. The setup will not take longer than a couple of minutes and you will further on be able to access all of your files from a shared folder from any device, anywhere. We, in our turn, hope that our professional reviews of different cloud services will make your choice much easier, so visit our review section for more information.

How Cloud Technology Helps Marketing Professionals Maximize
Their Time and Performance

I can still remember the good old days working in marketing and
public relations. There was no such thing as a “personal” schedule.
My office schedule was set according to my clients needs. Times
have drastically changed. Gone are the days of being chained to
your desk all night waiting and waiting for approvals on a project or
revisions to a press release. With cloud computing, you can not only
work from anywhere, but the collaboration aspect allows for real-time
strategizing and troubleshooting.

The “Cloud” – Briefly Explained
In a nutshell, cloud providers store any and all information you
choose on a remote server. Anyone you authorize to access data,
surveys, photos, information, etc. can retrieve the material from
virtually any computer or mobile device with an internet connection.
Real-time, online collaboration is available on some platforms, one
of the most popular being Google Apps. I’ll touch on this later in the
article.

Data Backup and Restore
A computer virus, natural disaster or network crash can be
detrimental to any business. The beauty of the cloud is having peace
of mind that all of your important company and client information is
being securely stored, backed up and readily available, despite what
might happen to your local system. No more waiting for IT and losing
hours and sometimes days of work trying to recover client files!

Security
Marketing and PR pros work with extremely confidential client
information. Cloud providers often go to great lengths to ensure
your data is kept safe and secure. A nightmare scenario is having a
laptop with proprietary client information misplaced or stolen. Storing
sensitive information in the cloud (rather than locally) eliminates the
possibility of someone accessing it from your hard drive.

Online Collaboration
The ability to collaborate is perhaps one of the most useful cloud
computing aspects for marketing and PR pros. Now, you can work
in real-time with colleagues and clients located anywhere in the
world. Google Apps provides one of the most reliable, user-friendly
collaboration platforms available. PR professionals especially benefit
from this when working on tight deadlines. One example is a time-
sensitive press release which requires multiple input and approvals.
Now, the PR professional in Florida, client in South Carolina and
colleague in Texas can collaborate in the cloud to view, revise and
edit the press release in real-time.

Many professionals are still apprehensive about using cloud-
based platforms. While change can be scary and takes time to
become accustomed to, you will find significant advantages to cloud
computing once you take that step. Many tech experts say cloud
options and features will continue to expand, soon making local-only
storage obsolete. And, although they got off to a slow start last year,
Google’s Chromebooks are gaining momentum. These quick laptops
operate solely within Google’s cloud environment. Could this be the
wave of the future? Only time will tell.

Gina Smith writes freelance articles for magazines, online outlets
and publications on behalf of a number of companies, including
Spanning.com. Smith covers the latest topics in the business, golf,
tourism, technology and entertainment industries.

There’s an old adage that says “you get what you pay for.” But is this necessarily true in the emerging and rapidly growing field of cloud storage? The Internet is full of offers for “free cloud storage” and “best free cloud storage.” But are these free cloud storage providers worth the trouble?

The answer is yes. . . and no.

Many cloud storage providers offer free service that is basically a scaled down version of their paid service. That means that you essentially get all the same features and functions but you get far less storage. So while with a paid service you might get anywhere from 20GB or storage to unlimited amounts of storage, with a free cloud backup service, you may onl get 2-5GB of storage.

That’s not a lot of storage but it can enable you to back up your most essential data. The truth is many free cloud backup services are intended more to give you a sense of what the service is like, rather than to represent a true cloud storage backup solution.

For as long as people have been using personal computers backing up our data is something that’s always been of concern. Catastrophic data loss, whether from system crash, disc failure, theft, hacking, or some other random occurrence, has always been a risk posed to computer users.

Backing up to disc was once the way to secure your data. Then came remote hard drives that could be used to backup files and storehouse data consuming media files.

Cloud computing is the newest craze to hit the backup market. Offsite, online data storage backups up your data “in the cloud” through storing it with a remote server that allows you to access it anytime you like. Backing up your data online is inexpensive and minimizes hassles.

Choosing a Cloud Backup Service for a PC

The cloud market has expanded rapidly and there are many available providers in terms of cloud services for backing up your PC. But basically there are two different types of cloud storage backup services available. These are dedicated backup services and cloud sync services.

Dedicated backup services like Mozy come with a client that’s able to monitor files or folders and back them up again whenever they are modified. On the other hand, cloud sync services like Dropbox add a magic folder or drive to your desktop. Other services such as SugarSync offer client software that watches files and folders located anywhere on your hard disc and backs them up.

If you’re looking for a more immediate form of online backup, you’ll like cloud sync. If you create and edit files that are located within the “magic folder,” they will be backed up automatically.

Compatibility is Key

Compatibility is key when it comes to choosing cloud backup for PCs. If you’re using a Mac you’ll want service that’s not only compatible with Mac, but also with PC in case your Mac should die. You may also want to find service you can use for your device is you want to equip your iPhone, tablet, or Android phone with online backup.

Security

Security is another factor to consider when choosing a cloud service for your PC. Data stored in the cloud is usually encrypted. However you want to make sure your sign on is secure. Some providers merely request you sign on using your email address. That means by simply guessing your password, a hacker could potentially access all your backed up data.

Backup Methods

Different services use different methods to back up your data. Some services back up entire files every time they are modified. This sounds commendable, but it can consume bandwidth unnecessarily if not all your modifications are in dire need of being backed up.

Another method is to determine the difference between old and new files and to only back up the data that is new. This process is known as diffing and can save you bandwidth and save your Internet connection from being overly taxed.

Free Trials

Some cloud backup services can severely tax your Internet connection. Others are less intrusive. You may have to try a few out to find the one that works best with your system. Thankfully most major cloud backup service providers will offer you a free trial of their service.

Find a Reliable Provider

It sounds like a cliché, but in the cloud market you need to find a reliable provider. The market is new and seems to be booming. However some providers will last and others inevitably will not. Providers like Mozy and Livedrive make it known that larger corporations back them. It’s probably a good idea to find such a provider for your cloud backup service.
